On Wednesday, June 18, there will be a Memorial Service at the Gaillard Auditorium at 10:00 AM to honor and remember the firefighters. The service will last approximately one hour. Seating will be limited in the auditorium and family and firefighters will be seated first. There will be a closed circuit TV set up in the Exhibition Hall of the Gaillard for any overflow attendance. There will also screens for additional viewing on the front of the Gaillard on the Calhoun Street side.
Doors will be open to the public for seating at 9:00.
Parking for the attending public will be at the Gaillard Auditorium Garage at Calhoun and Elizabeth Streets and the Aquarium Garage at Calhoun and Concord. Parking will be free until noon.
Calhoun Street will be closed down on Wednesday between Meeting and East Bay at 9:30. It will reopen at 10:00 and be closed again between 11:15 and 11:30. Anson Street at George will be closed at 9:30, re-open at 10:00 and close again between 11:15 and 11:30. Both streets will re-open based on traffic volume leaving the auditorium.
City of Charleston offices will be closed until Noon so that employees may attend the service.
