Day 1 at All America City Awards
Posted on 06/18 at 12:46 AM.

It’s been a busy day, starting with our flight to Atlanta, and then on to Kansas City. After getting our room assignments and resting for a bit, it was time to rally the Mt. Pleasant troops, all 41 of us. We held a brief meeting before heading into the main ballroom for our official welcome and orientation. I can tell you, the ballroom was LOUD, with cheers from all 25 of the All America City finalists. It’s going to be a tough competition, but we have a lot of energy, and our cheer of “Come on Over”, the new Mt. Pleasant slogan, went over very well. After the orientation, it was reception time in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency. We were sizing up the competition, and I could tell they were checking us out as well. Sounds like an old Western, but I can tell you, some of these towns and citites mean business!
Our practice time on stage is tonight, so we are getting a chance to see how the stage matches up with our practice locations back home. We are having a great time, and meeting a lot of nice people from all over the country. Stay tuned for future blogs, as we try to bring home the “All America City” designation.
