Day 2 in Huntsville
Posted on 08/09 at 04:08 PM.

Great day at the Baron Conference in Huntsville. It’s been a lot of fun to see all of the new technology available, and some of the new software that will be added to StormTeam2 Live VIPIR in the near future. The enhancements will continue to help us improve our forecasts, and show you why we believe a certain weather event is going to happen. We saw a great presentation on the next generation VIPIR. It’s called OMNI, and it will blow your socks off. Of course, it’s not free, so we will have to save our pennies….lots and lots of pennies!!! After a day full of presentations, it was time for some fun tonight. We all went to a place in Huntsville which reminded me of the Tanger Outlet in North Charleston. In this shopping center, though, was a neat place where we were able to bowl, eat, and spend time getting to know each other. I was proud of myself. I had not bowled in awhile, and I was able to throw a 110 in the first game, and a 145 in the second. I know I am going to be sore. I can feel it now! Saturday will be my day to present. I am talking about how we as Meteorologists need to embrace the social media explosion. Facebook and Twitter especially. Will let you know how it all goes tomorrow!
