Sorry I missed my Day 7 report…too much fun, and exciting things to do in Whistler, and it wears you out. Hit the sack early on Friday night….needed the rest!
Oh, by the way, did I mention how cool Whistler is? We started our day by heading over to the Gondala ride, which was going to take us all the way to the top of Whistler Mountain. Along the way to the checkin, we got a chance to see mainly young men, cruising down the mountainside on bikes. Mountain biking is big here, and everywhere you go, there are bicycles, and kids, young men walking around with helmets and protective gear. It was pretty cool to watch them. It was now time to head up the mountain for us…what a view on the way up in the Gondola. Once up on top of the mountain (about a 15 minute Gondala ride) the view was spectacular. You can see the pics at the bottom of the weather page at counton2.com. Our next adventure was to take a glass bottom gondola from Whistler to Blackcomb….what they call peak to peak. The 11 minute trip provided us with some amazing views, but don’t look down! You are high above the pine trees and snow below! On the top of each Mountain, there are restaurants and gifts shops, and back decks where picture taking is a must. I got some great shots there.
After spending a couple of hours on the mountains, it was time to head back down into the village. Food and Shopping awaited us there. Yes, I left some money behind on this trip….there is so much Olympic stuff on sale!
The people in Whistler are so friendly, and there is plenty to do, but onward we must go, and it’s time for our Charleston Group to head down the road to Vancouver.
A trip over the Cappellano Suspension bridge, and a horse drawn carriage ride tour await us there. We are having a great time, and our group is soaking it all up!
Time for breakfast, and then it’s on the road!
