It was a long trip, but as of Noon EDT Friday, July 3rd, we are back in the Lowcountry. I hope you have enjoyed reading about our Alaskan Adventure over the last couple of weeks…as much I have enjoyed letting you see Alaska through our eyes. We started out on June 20th not exactly knowing what to expect. We end our trip today, July 3rd, with a ton of memories, stories, pictures, and new friends. Thanks so much to our 30 fellow travelers, along with our excellent Holiday Vacations staff of Rose our Tour director (72 tours led in Alaska), and our bus driver, and straight man
Lyle. We will never forget our new friendships with Mary, Anna Marie, and Barbara. Len and Barb our “two-timers”, having done our Great California Train adventure with us last fall. Bob and Martha, the cutest couple on the tour. There was Harrison and Harriett, two of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. We can’t forget Richard and Jeannette, with Richard returning to a state he once served the Military in back in the day. The rest includes Carla and Cherry, David, Bonnie and Theresa…a mother daughter traveling team. It was great to meet Larry and Mary Jane, along with Jim and Amber. Virgil and Carol were there with us as well. We even got to share in their 50th wedding anniversay. Ernie and Debbie were as nice as they come, that’s how they grow them in Cornhusker Country! We met so many special people, including our friends from Wisconsin. Cara is from Green Bay, and I worked up there, so we always feel at home amongst our fellow “cheeseheads.“ Jim and Clarice kept us laughing all trip, and became grandparents for the second time on the trip. Larry and Arlis we felt we had known forever, and Julita and Marty kept us entertained. We will never forget Marty yelling “pothole!“ at various times of our trip along the Alaska highway. If you have ever traveled that road, you know why pothole is appropriate.
All in all, it was a trip of a lifetime, with wonderful people to share it with. We will rest now, and look ahead to our next trip in June of 2010 to the Canadian Rockies. Hope you can join us!
