It’s Day 2 of our Canadian Rockies and British Columbia by Rail trip with our wonderful News2 viewers. Yesterday was our long travel day, leaving Charleston at 6am, arriving in Calgary (by way of Houston) at 1230pm local time (or 230pm Charleston time). We were tired, no doubt about it, but we had to get some sightseeing in. They have a cool place called the Eau Claire Market right down the street from our hotel. The market has some pretty cool shops, and lots to do (even watched a bit of an outdoor arobics class), but I think our group was more into people watching. Calgary has a unique blend of different cultures all around, so it was cool just to hang out and observe. The weather was a big change from what we left back home. It was a cool 65 degrees, in fact it reminded me of a nice winter day in Charleston. One thing missing here….no humidity! It was refreshing!
Today, it’s off for our guided tour of Calgary with our bus driver Colin, and our wonderful tour director Penny. We then will have out big welcome lunch, followed by a boat tour in Banff National Park
and our arrival for a two night stay at Banff Park Lodge.
One side note, if you are ever in Calgary, make sure you eat dinner at Caesar’s Steak House. It was excellent! It reminded me of Oak Steakhouse back home.
I will continue to send back pics on Facebook, Twitter, and Counton2.com. Check out Rob’s travel pics at the bottom of the weather page. You might also see a pic or two with Joey and Josh on News 2!
