By geeks I mean they are dressed like the Geeks on Call, or the Geek Squad. I have seen these three guys a couple of times now. They ride down around town dressed in short sleeved white dress shirts, ties, and black pants. Have you seen them? |

That low-grade hum you hear when you step outside on days like this, is the electric meters on our houses working overtime to keep up with the AC unit. They say 78 is the optimal setting...that's a bit stuffy for me. |

So I reported the story this morning about the cat that has been stuck in a tree for three days. First of all, it's newsworthiness is questionable at best. Secondly, why would you call 911 to get a cat from a tree? |

I got an email from a woman whose son decided to sell his toys at a rummage sale and use the money to buy supplies for our troops serving in Iraq. Seven years old, and an example to all of us. |

| Firefighters ambushed by gunfire |
A St. Louis area firefighter is dead after a gunman opened fire on his engine company as they arrived to put out a car fire early this morning. The guy barricaded himself in a burning home across the street and never came out. |

| Pigs in the crosshairs of the Army |
 Have you heard this yet? The U.S. Army is going to shoot live pigs as part of a drill for soldiers headed to Iraq. The Army says this is the closest they can come to replicating what soldiers may encounter in Iraq. |

Driving. We are all cutting back to avoid those insane gas prices. DOT Director Buck Limehouse says, our cutbacks are robbing the funds needed to fix roads and bridges. Great...we drive, we pay. We don't...we still pay. |

America's pastime huh? I guess I should have known this, but I just always assumed that baseballs of all things would be made in America. I have a newsflash...they're not. The official baseball for the South Atlantic League is made in China! |

| What are these bugs on my porch?! |
UPDATE: I figured it out! Lawn Shrimp are invading my porch after every heavy downpour! They look like teeny-tiny shrimp, and they're related to real shrimp! They are nasty little things, with an interesting funk. |

| Golf course features life saving technology |
Besides your handicap...it's the only thing that can ruin an afternoon on the golf course...lightning. I made it through four holes on the course today and a cool gadget sent us headed for shelter well before we were in danger. |

I get the same cross-eyed look every time I tell people that I don't like to go to the beach. Some people get down right offended that I don't spend more time there...but I want to amend my statement. |
