Driving. We are all cutting back to avoid those insane gas prices.  DOT Director Buck Limehouse says, our cutbacks are robbing the funds needed to fix roads and bridges.  Great...we drive, we pay.  We don’t...we still pay. 

America’s pastime huh? I guess I should have known this, but I just always assumed that baseballs of all things would be made in America. I have a newsflash...they’re not. The official baseball for the South Atlantic League is made in China! 

UPDATE: I figured it out! Lawn Shrimp are invading my porch after every heavy downpour!  They look like teeny-tiny shrimp, and they’re related to real shrimp!  They are nasty little things, with an interesting funk. 

Besides your handicap...it’s the only thing that can ruin an afternoon on the golf course...lightning. I made it through four holes on the course today and a cool gadget sent us headed for shelter well before we were in danger. 

I get the same cross-eyed look every time I tell people that I don’t like to go to the beach.  Some people get down right offended that I don’t spend more time there...but I want to amend my statement. 

Have you seen the dent on that Northwest Airlines plane yet?  The original report said that the plane hit a bird.  Problem is...the FAA says they were flying at an altitude too high to hit a bird, and the other theory about lightning is blown too!

Just think about Dara Torres.  She’s 41-years-old and breaking world records that she set as a 15-year-old.  She will represent the USA in the Beijing games coming up in August. 

I came across this email a couple of weeks ago and I saved it for today. It’s an Ode to America written in a Romanian newspaper. On this 4th of July remember what today is about...it’s about the men and women who sacrificed to make this country what it is.

Not sure who sent out the memo that it’s ok to throw cigarette butts out the window of your car, but it’s not ok...it’s littering!

That goofy looking square milk jug has people talking. I blogged about the new jugs back in Februar...recently that story went national and the interest in the blog entry spiked.

I just said it, and I can’t believe it.  Today is July 1st and the year is more than half over...where did 2008 go? I’m not sure if the year is going faster because it’s the final year of my 20’s, but I don’t like it!

They have perhaps the most “thankless” job of anyone...they are the parking enforcement officers. I went to lunch down on George Street the other day before a speaking engagment at C of C.

The tongue-in-cheek message being sent to Ohioans who now call Charleston home...GO BACK!  The Charleston RiverDogs are having some fun with those of us who migrated south at tonight’s game.

UPDATE: Watch Imus defend his comments this morning. Just when we thought the Don Imus fiasco from last year had blown over...he does it again. This time when told a troubled NFL player was black, Imus said, “there ya go”.

All that speculation and my original guess, Bruce Springsteen...thwarted by Larry Collins saying that it couldn’t be because he’s on tour in Europe right now.  So do you agree with the billing?  The show we’ve waited 16 years for.
