I went up on the bridge for the first time in a long time.
Four times, people on bikes came flying down the hill and didn’t give a heads-up that they were coming.
There is a clear distinction of where walkers and bikers should be, and I agree that they should have equal access, but the lanes are barely big enough for people to walk side-by-side, and a jogger to get through, without drifting into the biker lane…and God help you if you do!
While I was up there, I saw very young children, and elderly people all come very close to getting clipped by those yahoos who refuse to hit their brakes on the way down.
I am not trying bash bike riders, because the vast majority are very courteous…but that small group who act like they’re doing time trials for the Tour de France need to find another place to ride.
I think all of those who ride up there should put some sort of beeper, siren-type device - like those golf carts at airports - to let people know they’re coming.
Bikes and walkers don’t share the regular sidewalks…and there is a reason for it.
