WELCOME!
Thanks for stopping by The Franko Blog!
We will talk about everything from the news of the day, to random thoughts.  This is not a one-way conversation…I invite you to give me your thoughts on things I blog about, and things I don’t.  No topic is off limits!

BTW…disagreement is part of the game. But, please keep it clean. This is an all ages show!

County Council donation controversy
Posted on 07/26 at 07:18 AM.

Once again there is a fight within Charleston County Council over the use of tax money to fund select non-profit organizations.  So far this year, council has donated $300,000.00 to various organizations of council’s choice.  One of the eyebrow raisers was money given to a group that works to legalize marijuana.

Councilman Curtis Bostic wants the practice to stop.  He says that money can go to fix roads and other projects that would be in the interest of taxpayers, even cut taxes.

Council chair Tim Scott, says he is against cutting the donations to non-profits because they provide services to the people of Charleston County.

They both have some pretty valid points…seems like a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situation.

What do you think?
