WELCOME!
Thanks for stopping by The Franko Blog!
We will talk about everything from the news of the day, to random thoughts.  This is not a one-way conversation…I invite you to give me your thoughts on things I blog about, and things I don’t.  No topic is off limits!

BTW…disagreement is part of the game. But, please keep it clean. This is an all ages show!

Driving. We are all cutting back to try to save a little bit on gas use.  DOT Director Buck Limehouse says, because we are cutting back, our state’s roads and bridges are going to pay the price. Great...we drive, we pay.  We don’t...we still pay.

The option being floated around right now is a usage fee.  The amount you pay will be based on how much you drive.

Bottom line...we will pay...one way or another.

Stinks doesn’t it?

Does he not understand what the “average” person is going through right now?  I am a single mom with three children and two jobs.  I should not have to choose between “filling” and “healthy” for the food for my kids.  I can’t cut down any more on gas...I have to get to work.  I have stopped smoking.  I have stopped eating lunch out every day at work.  It hasn’t been enough.  The next thing that they will come up with is a “usage” tax on chewing gum because people are quitting smoking...no income from the smokers anymore, they have to tax something to make up for it.

Usage fee? God, help us.

I would love to see Limehouse’s financial analysis that would support a usage fee. You can bet that I would not let him balance my checkbook!
