All weekend, everybody wanted to talk to me about Rep. Joe Wilson, and the infamous, ‘you lie’ outburst.

A couple of things.

First of all…I, and others wonder if anyone (i.e. the media) would have listened to Wilson’s concerns had he not pulled this stunt. Before last Wednesday, Wilson was a relative, unknown. Now, he is on the national stage, and has been for several days, touting his message.

Secondly…some wondered if Republican leadership put him up to it. It’s easy to find the political ‘logic’. Get people talking about a hot-button issue, embedded in another hot-button issue…free health care for illegals.

Some of the Dems I talked to say, let it go. The more it’s dragged out, the more his goal is accomplished. However, House Dems are demanding an apology from Wilson on the House floor. Wilson said this weekend, no more apologies.
