The calls started coming in at 7:45 this morning, and they lasted until about 9.
The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed that it was a 3.6 magnitude quake that shook Summerville at 7:42 a.m.
Experts want to know what you felt, you can tell them what you felt on their DYFI section.
I have posted the interview with College of Charleston professor Steven Jaumes, he had some interesting things to say about the quake. Including the misconception that we live on a “fault line”...turns out it’s for of a fault zone. He explains it better than I can, so check it out.

Here are some of the emails coming in from our website from viewers who experienced it:
We live in Summerville near Alston Middle School and felt the EARTHQUAKE rumbling under our house as many people did. But what was so interesting that we have not heard the telephone callers mention was what direction did they feel the earthquake come in from. Our house faces east and we felt and heard the quake come up under our house from the west and felt and heard the quake and shocks continue on east. Our house is brick on concrete slab and the whole house SHOOK and lasted for several seconds. Again, we thought that it was interesting that we could actually feel the direction that the quake came in from.
The earthquacke that was a little over 4 points that happened in the 1990’s moved in the same pattern. We have felt two earthquakes and one tremor while living in our home for 20 years. I wanted to share this information because we have not heard the weather commentator nor the viewers mention or discuss in what direction have other people felt how the quake moved.
It would be appreciated if the weather people and experts could discuss this topic. Barbara

In the area of Summerville I live, it didn’t sound like an earthquake to me. It was more like an explosion. A loud boom with momentary shaking. I thought for a moment a tree had fell on my house, earthquake was the last thing on my mind. Heather
