Thanks for stopping by The Franko Blog!
We will talk about everything from the news of the day, to random thoughts.  This is not a one-way conversation…I invite you to give me your thoughts on things I blog about, and things I don’t.  No topic is off limits!

BTW…disagreement is part of the game. But, please keep it clean. This is an all ages show!

Uncomfortable start to Obama speech
Posted on 01/20 at 05:38 PM.

I am sitting here watching the mind-numbing coverage of the inauguration…mind-numbing, but very cool.

I’ve read, and watched the speech about a half dozen times now. Overall…phenomenal speech. I loved the warning to Muslim extremists who are hellbent on annihilating the United States;

To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect.
To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society’s ills on the West — know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy.
To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist. _President Obama

However, for all of the graciousness and goodwill that was purported…President Obama seized the first few minutes of his speech to take what I thought were some pretty obvious swipes at his predecessor.

When I heard these words the first time, I found myself hoping that the cameras would get a shot of President Bush, and that was before I had the chance to really think about it.

We gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.

On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics. _President Obama

I will leave the opinions about appropriateness to you guys.

BTW…still glued to the tv watching the parade.
