WELCOME!
Welcome to Mic Check!

Usually when you see me on the news, I try to be right down the middle but here it ‘s all fair game. If I think someone’s going to get the boot, I’ll say it. If a team isn’t doing well and is going down hill fast, I’ll say that too.

This is also your chance to interact with me. So if something is on your mind, let me know and we’ll chat about it.

Higgins to stay at Citadel
Posted on 12/10 at 01:40 PM.

Kevin Higgins announced yesterday he’s not interested in jobs at Princeton and Richmond. He’s staying put at the Citadel.

I love Higgins. He’s always been great to the media and I think he’s equally great to his players. He maybe tough but I think he’s always honest and fair. That goes a long way with me.

I do have to question to remain his desire to stay with the Citadel. I think in his line of work, you got to strike while the iron is hot. Right now his iron is simmering. After a 4 and 8 season, followed by a 4 and 7 season, there’s still interest. Will there be that same interest if he follows it up with a third straight four win season. I’m not sure.

You got to go when your stock is high. Greg Schiano won 11 games in 2006 for Rutgers. He was that year’s Brian Kelly(Cincy). Everyone wanted him. But Greg stayed with the Knights and now you don’t hear his name in coaching rumors. For all we know, he loves Jersey but I wonder if there are days he’s not kicking himself for not going to Miami or Michigan.

Higgins says he wants to live life with no regrets which is why he wants to fulfill his commitment to the Citadel. The man has honor. I like that. I respect that but sometimes you got to do what’s best for you.
