You can’t help but feel for Willy Korn.
2007, he’s the labled as the greatest recruit in Tommy Bowden’s history at the school. Three years later he heads for the door, understanding the Tigers will never be his team. It was Cullen’s. Now it’s Kyle’s
In college sports, especially at the level of Clemson football, you can’t rely on a promise or a garunetee. There will always be a better player and if you don’t take the opportunity, your chance will be lost. Maybe forever
Ultimetly timely injuries put him beyond the eight ball with the Tigers and he never recovered. After losing the starting job to Cullen Harper he waited patiently for a chance.
The fans in Death Valley respected him for his attitude and desperetly wanted him to take over when Harper struggled in 08. But he never really got that chance and by the time the new year started, there was already a new kid in town blowing people away.
He’s a redshirt sophomore but even with time on his side, odds weren’t. Kyle Parker is even younger and he’s good. Tajh Boyd who was redshirted this year will be back next year. Coaches probably would have wanted him in the wings rather than Korn because he’s the future and Korn’s not even in the present.
Tough break but as we’ve seen from Tommy Beecher and Tribble Reese, there’s life and playing time after these big time school situations don’t work out.
