I’m all about people following their dreams. My job is a living proof of that. I’m 26, moved across the country twice and still living hundreds of miles from my family and friends.
So that’s why it pains me when I feel the need to tell someone to give it up…but Charleston Splash guys and girls, give it up.
Here’s the reality of that team. It’s semi pro which means it isn’t really pro at all. More than half the girls on the team never played division 1 basketball and I’m not entirely convinced the coach has had any experience past his rec teams.
My good friend Scott at channel 4 asked him about his credentials the other day and he told him, “I don’t need to tell you my credientals. I’m from Brooklyn. I know people.“
That reminds me of the hotel commercials. You know the “I’m not a doctor but I did stay at a Days Inn yesterday.“
But here are the cold hard facts. I saw girls out there playing that shouldn’t be playing more. One girl popped her knee out three minutes in. Not a good sign.
On top of that, they need to make a cash just to stay even. Judging by the attendance today at the very big McAlister Field house. I’m not sure that’s going to happen.
But here’s the thing. I’m not rooting against them. I want them to succeed. So support them, cheer them on, or else their dreams might come to an end long before this two month season sees its final game.
