Even though this blog is sort of the place where I dish on local sports, it’s become a little bit biographical as well.
Let me take you back to college. I was a fat kid. I’m 5-8. ( I tell the ladies, I’m 5-9 but that’s also to make myself feel better.) I’m 189 pounds. I looked a little swelled up to say the least.
By senior year, I made a promise to get rid of that weight. I went low carb and low and behold it worked like a charm. There may have been some lasting effects to the liver and heart but I try not to think of the consequences.
Anyway, for the most, I have stayed the course on that diet. I dropped 60 pounds, and now at a healthy 154, I am living good. I’m pretty strict on what I eat most days but as we all know, the Superbowl is not most days.
Pizza, buffalo wings, you name it, I’m eating it.
And that’s the thing, the Superbowl isn’t just a game. It’ a buffet. I remember one year when I worked in radio, we actually had a Superbowl cook off on the air. We had folks bring in their best food and we judged which was the best (What the point of this was for the listener, I’m not sure, but we enjoyed it.)
The winner that year was some glazed stir fried chicken and darn it, it was good.
