It’s June, and hurricane season has been in session for about two weeks now. As we enter the third week of the 2010 season, we very well may have our first named system, which would be Alex.
Check this out from the National Hurricane Center/Tropical Prediction Center.

They now have a 50% probability of development on the mentioned system between the Windwards and Africa. Based off of what I see on the satellite, this system looks healthy. It has a lot going for it. Warm water is in place, relatively low amounts of shear, and a decent amount of thunderstorms already associated with it.

As of now, it looks like the system will likely be pulled to the northwest over the coming days and will likely enter the Caribbean Sea later this week. There is plenty of warm water there too.
