Lots of cold and some snow too
Posted on 02/04 at 08:10 AM.

A very cold air mass is is invading the Carolinas as I type with snowflakes flying through the air all the way to the Grand Strand this morning.

A few snow showers could make it this far south, but the big weather story of the day will be cold air and gusty northwest winds.  We have already met our high temp for the day and we will only recover into the 30s this afternoon.

Check out the video discussion for more info on tonight’s hard freeze.

Hi Josh,
Some night life you’ve got!
I remember the 1989 snow storm.  When I called my parents in Syracuse that I wasn’t going to be home for Christmas because of the snow, my Mom asked me how much did we have here.  When I told her around eight or nine inches, I can still hear her saying “So!“ at the other end of the phone.  I still smile when I think of that conversation.
One good thing about the weather here, it looks pretty good for golf next week.

Hey Tom!

Thanks for clicking on the blog…  Sorry it took me a while get back with you…  Was in a meeting until 6 y’day afternoon and went to bed as soon as I got home… That is how I stay so upbeat in the AMs!  :D

The snow excitement cracks me up too and I’m from the upper part of South Carolina.  The reaction to an inch or two there is like a few flurries or snow showers here.  It is fun though when you don’t see it very often.

And you are right, no rain shoveling here!

Hi Tom!  The reason we get so pumped abbout snow is that we NEVER see it!  I’ve been here all my life and have only been in 2 snow fights - 1973 and 1989.  What memories!

Thank goodness that we normally don’t see too much ice and snow around here.  Having grown up in the north, Syracuse, NY, I think local folks’ reaction to a snow flurry is hilarious in one way and kind of heart warming in another.  It obviously brings out the child in them, which is the time in one’s life that snow is fun.  It’s only when you get older and it all becomes a problem with shoveling, commuting, etc.  I tell other Yankees moving here that “You don’t have to shovel rain.“
You and the weather team keep up your good work, although, I don’t know how you and the early morning crew can always be so upbeat that early.
