Wall Street on Welfare
Earlier this week, I blogged about how the national economic hard times was impacting us right here in Charleston. I used Force Protection's Monday deadline to either submit financial paperwork, or lose its listing on the Nasdaq as an example of how the hard times might effect us. Well, this morning we found out that the company is laying off an unknown number of employees.

1st District Congressional race debate proposed on News 2…
We are now less than 50 days from the November election, and you can really tell that now at the station. We get basically daily emails from the Presidential campaigns, and occasional emails from other races as well.

Gator hunt, anyone?
Gator hunting in South Carolina... now, I'm not a hunter in general, but I don't see myself even LOOKING for an alligator in any way shape or form, much less hunting. A Summerville man has already bagged his first gator.

Many times, we see stories about Wallstreet companies going out of business, and it appears those stories don't impact us here in the Charleston area. Over the last few months, we've learned just how corporate problems can indeed hurt the local economy.

Price of gas driving the Lowcountry crazy
The price at the pump has been causing quite a buzz in the newsroom the past 2 days. On Thursday, we had dozens of calls about the price of gas going up to 5 bucks a gallon.
