A lot has happened in my three years at News 2. I was hired as a reporter and producer. I started producing our Noon show (now the midday!) and reported on the weekends and Wednesdays. My days off were Monday and Tuesday and eventually switched to Thursday/Friday which afforded some sort of a life despite the weekend shift.
I used to get so frustrated producing one because it meant less time improving on my reporting and there would always be two breaking news stories at 11am on the days I was producing the noon. I always felt like most of the work I had done on the show didn’t matter because the breaking news always screwed everything up.
Then in February-ish of 2008 I became a full time reporter and moved to the evening shift…still stuck on weekends because of staffing.
Then one year later….I moved to the morning show! I loooove it. And now I also produce the midday show. Phew. It’s exhausting.
For a trip down memory lane I checked out some of my first live shots that I saved. This is from Sept. 27th, 2006, three months and a day after I started. Look how blond I was! and my voice…..eek. I now I still look like I’m 12, but I feel like I sound like I’m seven years old! ha ha
Can’t wait to see what I have to say about this year (I already know it will be making fun of my hair!....“the poof” as I call it.“
Hope you enjoy this and get a good laugh.
